Lessons that changed my life (draft)

Here are 7 lessons that changed my life.

1️⃣ Intensity is undervalued.

Mediocre people will mock you for being intense. But every overachiever in history has been close to an obsessive behavior. Just learn to focus your intensity on the right things and it will bring results.

2️⃣ Common sense is not that common.

Most problems in life can be solved with simple, practical thinking. You will soon realize that most people lack this skill. Practice it, own it, and it will serve you in all aspects of your life.

3️⃣ A smile and good manners open doors.

From it being one of the main reasons why my company hired me, to receiving lots of help from total strangers in this new country, this last year has been a constant reminder that you just need to carry good energy and be kind to people. Everything comes back at some point. In the meantime, you will have a big impact on those around you.

4️⃣ It’s ok to start over.

You may find yourself on a path you are not happy with. You will fear fresh starts because you have advanced so much already on the old way. But remember, you only have one life, and everything can change in a moment. Don’t risk being miserable the rest of your life for the false sense of security you have right now.

5️⃣ Work on something that gives you energy.

Working hard is required to achieve excellence in life. But those long hours don’t need to be draining. We all have things that we could be doing all day long, the kind of things that keep you up past bedtime because you are full of energy and excitement. Figure out which one of those things is (a) hard for others, but easy for you, (b) can make you money, and (c) is helpful for the world. That’s your Ikigai. Build a career around it. You will live a fulfilled life.

6️⃣ Integrity comes first.

Looking for a quick profit while disregarding your word or other people’s welfare might seem like a shortcut sometimes, but you will destroy your reputation and, in the long run, you will not get far. Being trustworthy and honorable will make others want to work, build and be around you.

7️⃣ Specialize to stand out.

While being a generalist has its advantages, it’s crucial to establish expertise in at least one area where you can leverage your diverse skill set. In my experience, combining my knowledge of copywriting, SEO, coding, marketing, sales, and design, and applying it to web development, allowed me to distinguish myself from the rest.

Life is about continuous growth and learning. These lessons have not only shaped my career but have also enriched my personal life.
